I explain in my book, The Cantin Ketogenic Diet, that you need to find your basic metabolic rate and eat enough calories to maintain weight. If one needs to gain weight, they need even more calories than the basic metabolic rate depending on their metabolism and physical activity. For those who want to lose weight, they need to eat less calories than the basic metabolic rate calculation. Keep in my that some might have faster metabolism than others.
